What type of security measures are in place to keep my data safe from identity theft?

HR Self-Service uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to secure your data by encrypting information and providing authentication.  An SSL Certificate consists of a public key and a private key. The public key is used to encrypt information and the private key is used to decipher it. When a browser (i.e. Internet Explorer) points to a secured domain, a secure sockets layer handshake authenticates the server and the client and establishes an encryption method and a unique session key. With this in place, you access secure sessions that guarantees data privacy and data integrity.

Your online security is very important to us. Your User ID and password are sent over the Internet from your computer to ours using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. The moment you log in, your ID and password are encrypted using SSL, keeping your information secure and ensuring that no one else can access it.

Additionally, we have in place:

  • Stronger password controls (8 characters - minimum 1 digits and 1 special character)
  • Browser “Back” button has been disabled at Self Service web site to prevent tailgating
  • Controls to prevent cookies from being stored on individual workstations
  • All database servers are secured behind an 'industry best' firewall
